POEM: "Everyday in the same lane..."

"Everyday in the same lane..."

Everyday in the same lane
a clock tower on legs in summer
getting slower a little bit older
balding fast beginning to talk
back to his two-year-old self
I can’t make out what he says
every form is dissimilar, lame
on the left side, the line is wrong
and to the right, very hard to protect
(we were on that face for 3 bloody days)
he looks awfully close and I nod
and he nods I tell myself I don't
really know what it is he sees.
